This book is a collection of family recipes that are dear to my heart, mixed with my personal opinions on food, love, and our obligation — as earthlings — to be whole again, not only for one another, but for our entire planet.

What is food, really?

Food is necessary.

We all need it to survive, no matter where we come from. It’s relatable. Common ground.

What I try to remember, through it all, is how alike we all are.

Once you break down the surface differences, all of us care for our families and loved ones. We believe in being kind and open-minded. We believe in the value of hard work and integrity. And often, we show love through what I believe to be the most honest medium of all: food.

Although there are many ways to teach empathy, food is often the most obvious approach, to me.

“Food may not be the answer to world peace, but it’s a start.”

– Anthony Bourdain
